Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make all of these tables yourselves?

Absolutely! Everything we produce is designed and worked on by our own hands in our own workshop – even all the table bases. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Do you do bespoke work?

Definitely. If you like the style of one of our pieces, but want a different timber variety, a different size, or have something completely unique that you’d like us to build for you, we’re happy to help.

We’ll be with you throughout the whole process, from timber selection to aftercare – and sending lots of pics along the way to keep you updated. Just email info@lateliermata.co.uk with your requirements and a few photos of what you’re after, then we can send you a quotation.

How does delivery work?

For all of our finished tables, we offer a next day delivery service after your order has been processed – or a chosen day that suits you – for £100 within the UK (excluding the Highlands, islands and Northern Island). We process orders within 48 hours. If you do need your table delivered extremely urgently, just call us after ordering and we’ll see what we can do.

If you purchase one of our in-production pieces, we’ll provide you with a delivery date 4-6 weeks away, but it’s exactly the same cost.

Depending on your access requirements, we’ll either deliver the table with the legs already attached, or we’ll assemble the table ourselves when we deliver – you just need to think about where you’d like us to put it!

How do I take care of the table after delivery?

Many of our customers worry about how to look after such a beautiful table, but we really don’t want you to worry – these tables are intended to be enjoyed as part of your daily life, not kept in a room on its own looking pretty!

The finish is durable and will last for years to come with no specific maintenance – but there are just a few rules to follow:

  • Try to remember to use coasters under your cups of tea. If you forget, don’t panic – and definitely don’t evict any friends who aren’t coaster-prone either! – but just keep them on hand most of the time.
  • Hot dishes from the oven or steamy plates from the microwave should go on mats when you put them down
  • Avoid polishes or harsh cleaning chemicals. Just a damp cloth or a touch of mild soap will clean up almost anything.

If an accident does happen there’s always the option of refinishing your table, and it’ll look as good as new when it comes back to you. Just get in touch for more information.

We take great care in selecting fantastic timber, but as its a natural product you may see movement occur over time. Try to keep your table away from long periods of direct sunlight or drastic temperature changes. Cracking is uncommon but can occur as the table acclimatises to its new environment – if you’re unhappy with how it settles then we can look into filling these for you, after this period of acclimatisation has passed.

Can I choose a different table base?

Yes, of course! Although our finished tables are photographed on specific table bases, some of which may have been designed with that table in mind, you have free reign to choose a different base. Just get in touch for more information.

What is your returns policy?

We love our tables and we do all we can to ensure you buy the one that’s right for you – so if you have any questions before you purchase, just get in touch. We’ll be happy to send you more photos, or answer any questions you have, as we’d much rather our customers were sure about a purchase, instead of rushing in.

However, if you do purchase a table that’s not right for you, you can return it within 14 days of delivery. This will be subject to a collection charge based on your location. Charges start from £100, but will not exceed £800. As long as the table is in perfect condition, you will receive a full refund for your order. We will complete any collections and process refunds within 28 days. Returns of bespoke commissions will be handled on a case by case basis.

Refunds are not available for our custom-made commissioned works.

If you love your table but experience any issues after delivery, just call us on 020 8432 3266.

Do you offer financing?

At this point in time we don’t offer a financed option for our finished tables.

For all bespoke and customised work however, we will take a 50% payment upfront in order to start work, then the final payment in prior to delivery.
