Crafted with the finest timber, our English Walnut And Maple Dining Table is a synthesis of design and craftsmanship. The table’s most striking feature is our signature ‘stitched’ central connection. This unique design element that adds an extra dimension to the classic live edge look. With this piece, our objective was to bring art to the table in an unusual fashion.
The rich chocolatey tones of the wood showcase its natural ripples and striations, making each dining table a one-of-a-kind treasure. The tabletop flaunts contrasting heart and sapwood, with a prominent central opening that brings out the table’s striking two-toned look. Its asymmetrical pedestals add character and complement the accentuated live edge details along the sides, making it a true showstopper.
We offer the flexibility to customise the size and shape of the table to fit your specific requirements. Crafted from premium hardwood walnut, this piece is designed to stand the test of time, making it a valuable addition to any home.
100% Hardwood: Embrace the natural beauty and sustainability of solid wood with our exquisite furniture pieces. Not only does timber exude beauty, it’s also a living material that adds warmth and character to your home.
Artisanship: Each piece of furniture is built by hand at our atelier in France, using traditional techniques that ensure strength and longevity.
Repairability: We take pride in our commitment to sustainability and longevity. Our furniture is designed with repairability in mind, ensuring that it can be easily restored if needed. This means that you can enjoy your table for years to come, with the knowledge that it can be restored to its original beauty if necessary.
NO Composite Materials: We never use composite materials like MDF or chipboard in our designs, ensuring that our furniture is of the highest quality and durability. Our commitment to sustainability extends to our design process, with a focus on minimising emissions and maximising the reuse of offcuts.
Provenance: Our wood is FSC-certified, meaning that it comes from responsibly and sustainably managed forests that prioritise biodiversity, social responsibility, and economic benefit. When you choose our walnut and maple dining table, you’re not just investing in style and quality – you’re also making a responsible choice for the environment.
Dusting: Use a soft, dry cloth to dust the surface of the table regularly to prevent dirt and dust build-up.
Cleaning: If the surface of the table needs to be cleaned, use a gentle cleaner designed for use on acrylic-coated surfaces. Be sure to avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cloths as these can damage the finish on your dining table.
Sunlight: Direct sunlight can cause the colour of the furniture to fade over time. If possible, place the furniture away from windows or use curtains or blinds to block direct sunlight.
Moisture: Moisture can be problematic if left to linger on the tabletop. If any food or liquid gets split directly onto the surface, clean immediately.
Heat: Avoid placing hot objects, such as pots and pans, directly on the surface of the table. Use trivets or placemats to protect the surface from heat damage. When planning the location of your table, consider placing your table 1-2 meters away from a heat source such as a radiator or fireplace.
Handle With Care: Please be warned, these tables are very heavy. If you are planning to move your table, be sure to lift it rather than dragging it across the floor and make sure you have a few extra sets of hands to help. This will help to prevent scratches and other damage to the surface or floors.
Storage: If the table is going to be stored for an extended period of time, cover it with a clean, soft cloth to protect it from dust and scratches.
Shipping: All our furniture comes with free delivery and installation.
Scheduling: Once your walnut and maple dining table build is complete, we will schedule a delivery time that is convenient for you.

The Timber In Our Walnut And Maple Dining Table
European Walnut
European walnut (Juglans regia) also known as English walnut, is a wood of character. This hardwood is coveted by artisans for its natural beauty and versatility. The wood can exhibit a range of tones from deep chocolate browns to warmer golden hues and may even have subtle reddish or purple undertones. The variations in tone add depth and character to each bespoke dining table.
The grain of European walnut is known for its striking patterns, with swirls, curls, and waves that create a unique sense of movement. The wood has a medium to coarse texture, with a natural lustre that catches the light and draws the eye.
At L’Atelier Mata, we love working with this species of timber! There is always a ‘big reveal’ once the raw boards are planed down. The level of character never disappoints and we think that the combination of warm colour and distinctive grain pattern make this timber the perfect choice for our dining tables.
The Table Base
Asymmetric Legs | Distressed Copper
Our asymmetric legs are carefully crafted to ensure a flawless finish. The irregularity in their design creates an intriguing contrast between their angles and lines, allowing them to stand out and make a statement. The use of steel ensures they are both sturdy and durable, while the unique design adds a touch of personality to the English Walnut Dining Table.
To create an aged, weathered look, we used a distressed copper plate finish. At our atelier, we developed our own process of distressed copper plating, which we think adds a unique character to our table legs. The appearance of the finish is deliberately irregular, creating an organic and authentic feel. Each leg is carefully finished by hand, ensuring that no two legs are identical.
Our Philosophy
At L’Atelier Mata, we are passionate about what we do and we take great pride in crafting each piece of furniture by hand. Our hunt for unique and exceptional boards of timber takes us across Europe & the UK, enabling us to create bespoke dining tables, coffee tables, mirrors, mantles and many more one-of-a-kind pieces.
We believe in the power of visual simplicity. With over 15 years of experience, we have honed our skills to focus on strong lines, perfect proportions and powerful detail. These elements have the ability to bring out the inherent beauty of raw timber. We are inspired by classical form and the idea that “less is more”- this allows us to create dining tables that have a timeless, elemental character. With meticulous attention to detail at every stage of the design and manufacturing process, we ensure that every piece is perfect before it leaves our atelier.
Our team has been working together for almost two decades, giving us a wealth of knowledge and a deep sense of pride in our work. Whether it’s a residential or commercial project, we deliver on budget, on schedule, and with utmost precision.
